Pinhão

Pinhão is located in the heart of the Douro Demarcated Region and is flanked by the rivers Douro and Pinhão, thus being situated on the Port Wine route.Due to its geographical location, it was once an important trading post, dedicated to the transport of Port Wine, first in Rabelo boats, then in wagons along the Douro Line and finally in tanker trucks. In Pinhão, it is worth visiting: the Railway Station, adorned with beautiful 1937 tiles, consisting of 24 panels with wine motifs, which document the hard work of the Douro people and the Road Bridge over the Douro River, designed by Gustave Eiffel in the 19th century.Weather permitting, you can contemplate the Douro landscapes and view the estates of the well-known fortified wine producing houses on a boat trip.
